Morocco tours from Tangier 10 days Sahara desert & imperial cities, is a 10-day tour Start Tangier end up at Marrakech. the trip starts from the north of Morrocco going to the south to Chefchaouen through the Rif mountains continuing more down to the south to walk around the oldest Medina in Morocco Fez going more south to discover the Sahara dunes of Merzouga with an overnight in a Berber desert camp riding a camel. We are passing by the road of 1000 Kasbahs and we will make a stop in the gorgeous rock formation in Toudra Gorges and Boumalen Dades. We will also visit Ouarzazate and Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou and continue to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains to admire the landscapes of the mountains and take beautiful pictures of the Berber villages. By the end, we will visit the mysterious Medina of Marrakech and depart from Marrakech airport.

Itinerary

Day 1Tangier - Tetouan - Chefchaouen

Your driver will pick you up at either the airport, port, or your hotel in Tangier, depending on your preferred starting point, and drive you to Chefchaouen through Tetouan and the scenic Rif Mountains. Along the way, you can stop for photos of the beautiful mountain landscapes. After approximately three hours, you’ll arrive in the enchanting Blue City, Chefchaouen. Once you’ve checked into your accommodation, the rest of the day will be yours to explore the blue streets at your own pace.

Day 2Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

This morning, after breakfast, we will depart for Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved Roman settlements in Morocco. Here, you’ll have the chance to explore the ancient alleyways, gates, monuments, and stunning mosaic floors, dating back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries. Our journey continues to Meknes, another UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s four Imperial cities. Meknes, founded by Moulay Ismail, boasts attractions such as the Medersa Bou Inania and the impressive Bab Mansour, the gateway to the palace. Afterward, we will make our way to Fes, where you’ll check into your accommodation for the night.

 
 

Day 3Fes city tour

After breakfast, you will meet with an official guide to exploring Fes, the most ancient and holy of the Imperial cities. Your cultural and historic tour will take you through the 2000-year-old living medina. A labyrinth of narrow streets, alive with markets and souks, craftsmen, donkeys, and mules transporting their loads. Visit the Attarine and Bou Anania Medersas (Islamic universities), the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, the Chouara tanneries, and the Karaouine Mosque. Finish your tour with a visit to Fes Jdid, and the revered Merenid Tombs for a spectacular panoramic view of Fes.  

Day 4Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga

You’ll be picked up early in the morning from your hotel in Fes and begin your journey south toward the desert. Your first stop will be in Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” where you can take in its unique charm and capture some memorable photos. Next, you’ll travel to Azrou, where you’ll visit the cedar forest and see the famous Barbary monkeys. Continuing onward, we’ll reach Midelt, where you’ll have a stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

Then, our journey continues across the scenic Tizi N’Talghamt pass to Errachidia, where you’ll admire the stunning views of the Ziz Gorges. A little further along, we’ll pause for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley before continuing through Aoufous and Erfoud, a town renowned for its fossils and dates. If you wish, you can visit a local fossil craft workshop in Erfoud. Our journey will then take us to the charming village of Merzouga, where you will spend the night in a hotel with breathtaking views of the majestic Sahara desert dunes.

Day 5Merzouga - Khamlia - Nomad family - Fossil Site - Tour of the dunes - Camel Ride & Night in Sahara

After breakfast at your hotel, your adventure begins with a 4×4 tour of the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. You’ll visit the fascinating black volcanic rock formations rich in fossils and stop by a nomadic family living in a traditional tent. Next, you’ll head to the village of Khamlia, where you’ll experience the captivating spiritual music of the Gnawa people.

Afterward, you’ll explore the intricate canal irrigation system in Merzouga, and enjoy a peaceful walk through the oasis at the foot of the dunes. In the late afternoon, you’ll embark on an unforgettable camel trek to the camp, riding for about an hour as you watch the sun set over the golden dunes. Once you arrive and settle in at your tent, you will delight in a delectable dinner under the starry sky, enjoy a spectacular show of Saharan music, and then, spend the night in this magical setting.

Day 6Sahara - Erfoud - Tinejdad - Todra Gorges - Boumalne Dades

Begin your day early to witness the magnificent sunrise over the dunes, followed by a leisurely breakfast. Afterward, you’ll commence your journey toward Tineghir, passing through the towns of Erfoud and Tinejdad. A stop will be made en route for lunch. We will continue toward the renowned Todra Gorges, with opportunities for photo stops along the way to admire the scenic landscapes. Upon arrival at the Todra Gorges, you will have time to explore the stunning canyon on foot and take in its dramatic beauty. We will then proceed to Boumalne du Dades, making a stop to capture panoramic views of the Dades Valley. Once there, you will check into your accommodation and enjoy a delicious dinner, concluding a day filled with memorable experiences.

Day 7Boumalne Dades - Kelaa M’gouna - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Tizi N'Tichka Pass - Marrakech

This morning after breakfast in the hotel, we depart to Marrakech. The next site to visit is the Rose Valley going through the big Skoura palm grove, a beautiful place to contemplate more than 700.000 palms and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surrounding area. In this Valley damascenes, roses are raised for cosmetic use such as the valued rosewater. After breakfast at your hotel, we will begin our journey to Marrakech passing through the stunning Rose Valley, and the Skoura palm grove, home to over 700,000 palm trees and numerous kasbahs.

We will then continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Here, we will stop to admire the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most remarkable ksars. A brief stop will also be made near Atlas Studios for photos before we proceed to Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. This famous ksar has served as the backdrop for numerous films, including Gladiator, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penélope Cruz. Following our visit to Aït Ben Haddou, we will journey through the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’tichka pass, which rises to an altitude of 2,260 meters. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where you will check into your accommodation.

Day 8Marrakech city tour

Get ready for an exciting day of exploration as we embark on a private guided tour of the vibrant Marrakech Medina, led by a knowledgeable and experienced local guide. Our first stop is the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, a stunning example of Almohad architecture. From there, we’ll dive into the bustling medina, with its vibrant souks, bursting with color and energy. You’ll have the chance to haggle for local souvenirs, sample delicious street food, and discover the hidden treasures of Marrakech. Our guided tour continues as we explore some of the city’s lesser-known secrets, including the Ali Ben Youssef Koranic School, a magnificent example of traditional Islamic architecture, and the ornate Saadian Tombs, where the royal family of the Saadian dynasty was laid to rest.

We’ll also visit the beautiful Bahia Palace, with its intricate decorations, lush gardens, and tranquil courtyards. And, to round off our tour, we’ll make our way to the stunning Majorelle Gardens, a botanical oasis in the heart of the city, created by the French painter Jacques Majorelle. After our tour, you will have free time to further explore the medina at your own pace, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Jemaa el Fnaa square, which in the evening is full of narrators, jugglers, diviners, snake charmers, and musicians.

Day 9Day trip to Essaouira

This morning, we will depart at 8:00 am for the charming seaside town of Essaouira, located on the Atlantic Coast. The relaxing 3-hour drive will take us through scenic landscapes lined with argan trees, where we’ll stop to observe the famous sight of goats climbing in the trees. We will also visit a local argan oil cooperative run by women, where you’ll have the chance to see the traditional process of producing this prized oil.

Upon arrival in Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, you’ll discover its windswept fishing port, expansive beaches, and the ancient walled medina with its impressive ramparts overlooking the sea. Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere as you explore the lively medina, take a walk along the ramparts or beach, or visit the bustling port to witness the daily catch. A delicious seafood lunch in a local restaurant is highly recommended. In the early afternoon, we will begin our return to Marrakech, where the driver will drop you off at your accommodation.

Day 10Marrakech airport transfer

Today, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation and transfer you to Marrakech Airport, ensuring a smooth and timely arrival for your flight. This marks the conclusion of our services.
