Visit the Atlas Mountains, the highest mountains in North Africa.
There are three mountain ranges that cross Morocco. The Middle Atlas in the north, the High Atlas in central Morocco and the Anti-Atlas in the south along the Atlantic coast.
In the High Atlas, Toubkal, the highest mountain, reaches a height of 4,167 m and remains covered in snow for much of the year. Tizi n’Tichka pass, 2,260 m in altitude, is the highest mountain pass between Marrakech and Ouarzazate. The main inhabitants are Berbers who live from agriculture and the area is ideal for trekking. Ourika Valley, Imlil, Tizi n’Test, Kasbah Telouet, Tinmel mosque, are some interesting places worth a visit in High Atlas mountains.
The Middle Atlas are covered by cedar forests and is home to the Barbary apes. It have some very picturesque towns like Ifrane and Azrou and the area is perfect for hiking and mountain tours. The nearest cities are Fez and Meknes.
Τo the west, where the Middle Atlas meets the foothills of the High Atlas, are located the Ouzoud Falls, which attract many visitors each year.
The Anti-Atlas or Little Atlas is a traditionally Berber region and its landscape have many picturesque kasbahs. The range borders on the Sahara to the south and Atlantic Ocean in the southwest . There are no large cities in the area and the main town is Tafraoute.
